I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a 2nd class 1st division BSc (Hons) in Computer Games Technology. I am enthusiastic and eager to learn all there is to making games, and I am excited to work with others on large or small projects developing them to their full potential. I have had a lot of experience throughout school and university where I have worked with many people on large and small projects. You can find some of these works on the portfolio page.

  • Throughout my later years in secondary school (A-levels), I have had to work in many different groups, encountering new people each time which has helped me build my interpersonal communication skills tremendously. Most of these projects would require us to give a presentation, further backing that statement.

  • I have worked in a restaurant called “Zest” back in my home town of Whitehaven. This was a completely new experience for me as I had never had a job working with the general public prior to that and I didn’t know anyone else who worked there. This required me to interact with customers in a pleasant manner and work within a team of people. Throughout I was confident and happy to be working there, giving it my all.

  • Going through university, I have had a moderate amount of experience coding in different programming languages across different platforms, mostly being C# when making games in Unity. I have also programmed different bits of work in C++, Java, HTML, CSS and using node-based interfaces such as Unreal Engine 4.

  • I have always been keen when it comes to problem-solving and is one of the main reasons I love programming so much. In my first year, we had many different portfolio tasks to get through each week alongside the main tasks of the class. These constantly required us to think about how we could adapt the existing code we were taught and shown during the labs and lectures and think logically. I always enjoyed these tasks as they challenged my current knowledge of coding and problem solving, making me try something new each week. This opened my eyes to just how big programming was in terms of what you could accomplish, which made me enjoy it more so than before.

Work Experience

Zest (August 2016 - August 2017) - Food Service Worker

My time at Zest was well spent as it taught me a lot about communication between others and working as a team with those around you to get the job done in a better and more efficient manner.

Zest pushed me to work as a team with other people and also taught me how to handle customers in a professional manner when dealing with customer service.

North West Renovations Ltd. (August 2017 - Present) - Accountant / IT

I have been doing work for North West Renovations for six years but went full time after finishing University. I have done both construction work and office work, office being my main job at the moment. I have also travelled nationally and internationally to work on the radiation doors in multiple hospitals.

I have handled most of the office work when it comes to North West Renovations. I do all of the RAMS forms (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) for the jobs of the construction and radiation door maintenance employees. I also create the invoices and the templates for them, as well as help with the organisation of paper files and other employees' computers to get everything in order.

Other skills

  • I have had a lot of experience throughout my life in school using the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) to create all kinds of work and spreadsheets to present to others and keep data in order.
